Thank you so much for all the effort that yourself and all your staff went through to make a very special day exquisite.


Not only was the food prepared of the highest quality it was presented well and it was affordable.  The professional yet homely environment makes My Place a jewel.  I do not have enough words to express my gratitude. Thank you Thank You thank You.

The day was perfect, I would not have changed a single thing.

Our Tantalizing 5-Course Menu's

1st Course:
Crumbed & Deep-fried Camembert Topped with Mixed Berry Compote served with Herbed Salad Greens and Crostini
2nd Course:
Creamy Tomato, Feta & Basil Soup, with Crispy Ciabata
Sorbet served between 2nd & 3rd courses – clearing pallet
3rd Course:
Kinglip or Cape Salmon Cooked in Sauce and Topped with Coconut Cream, Mild Green Spice & Lemon Grass on a bed of Crème Fraiche infused Mashed Potato with Coriander Garnish
4th Course:
“Blinde Vink” – traditionally done, Slivers of Slowly Roasted Beef, with Savoury Stuffing, Rolled and Cooked in Cream and topped with a Red Wine, Mushroom & Beef Reduction, served with Couscous
Sorbet served between 4th & 5th courses – clearing pallet
5th Course:
Deef Fried Cinnamon & Coconut Encrusted Bananas, served with Ice-cream and Decadent Chocolate Sauce

CSIR Cocktail Function - 10 November


As usual, there was no time to take pictures of everything prepared for the cocktail function at CSIR.  The spread included:
  • Egg Pancake Canapes, with Pastrami, Creme Fraiche and Fresh Herb filling, Rolled & tied with Chives
  • Marinated Chicken, Portabelinni Mushroom & Green Bell Pepper Cocktail Kebabs
  • Cocktail Wrap Roulades, with Sweet Chilli Chicken & Dill Filling
  • Mini Vegetarian Quiche
  • Deep Fried New Potato Canape, with Lemon Pepper Cream Cheese, Peppadew & Chopped Chive Stuffing

Doreen's 40th at My Place

The fabulous Doreen held her 40th birthday function at My Place.  She enjoyed a week of celebrations, culminating in a hearty meal and lots of dancing.  My camel statue also did not escape the fun, and became Doreen's primary dancing partner that night.

Above and below our exhibition at the Grove Mall, Menlyn.  Our first day was a roaring success.  The Expo runs until Sunday 30 May 2010.

Valentines Dinner - 13 February 2010

Valentines Dinner at My Place was a very intimate occasion.  I optioned to cater for a very small select group, making this a very private affair.
We transformed the garden using rich and romantic colours schemes.
Night-time pictures will be posted soon.  However, since this was a private occasion, I leave the rest up to your imagination.

6 February - Jana's Sweet Sixteen

Jana Prinsloo's 16th birthday was held at My Place on Moot.
The predictable, yet good omen of rains came just prior to the start of her event, leaving the air refreshed and washed clean.
Her night turned out to be a wonderful celebration.

This Saturday I tried my hand at a few cocktail appetizers for starters.
Main course was the famous My Place Pork Belly and for dessert we had coconut & cinamon encrusted banana, drizzled with chocolate sauce and served with icecream and flaked chocolate.

Birthday Function Saturday 9 January 2010

The first week of January 2010 ended off with a beautifully set birthday function for a very special guest, Ansa.
The open air terraces were draped, giving a subtle arabian desert feel. Yet, with the now very lush and green garden it symbolised freedom and peacefulness.
A few regulars visited us, as well as 20 birthday guests.
The set-menu function started with our homemade cocktail savoury breads and spreads, followed by table salad.
Main course was our famous fillet in blackpepper and course salt crust, flambed and topped with flambe mushrooms and cream, served with pasta rice and vegetable garnish.
I used half a bottle of brandy to flambe all the fillet!
Dessert was our famous coffee caramel brandy tart.
The evening was lit up with by the outside flame torches and music. Unfortunately I was too busy preparing all the food that I had no time to take a picture of the plated meals. I will testify as all the guests did that it was mouthwatering.
